    Employ Domain-Driven Design

This creates a transparent delineation of responsibilities, which in turn limits redundancies that can occur in parallel development efforts.”

    Don’t Share Databases Between Microservices

    “In building their decoupled services, they are allowing their development teams to build their own database that feeds their [back-end systems], which limits dependencies from other development teams,” explains Bercher. “Because code isn’t propagated across the entire platform, they can quickly segregate issues to a specific source and then track them within the microservices.”

    Consider building Applications From Scratch

    “One of the challenges they encountered when they decided to migrate to microservices,” explains John Nicholas, CTO of Carrington Mortgage Holdings, “was whether or not to wreck the application up piece-by-piece or accomplish a complete rewrite.” While choosing the latter option “was a huge task and required massive efforts from entire their team members…it has already proven its worth in the short age of time since the transition.”

    Focus on Change Management

    “A faster development process is great, but don’t lose the benefits of microservices by leaving out change control and other notable governance processes,” says Ron Hayman, chief cloud officer at Avant Communications. “Ensure that you align change control and the approval process to match your agile development lifecycle.”
